our generations of Patmans have brought leadership and innovation to the meat processing industry. In the Early 1900’s Nathan Patman emigrated from Russia to the United States. He started the Patman Meat legacy by starting in the meat industry with a small manufacturer, New York Provisions. Born in Chicago, his son Urban went west to play football for UCLA and started the Patman Meat Company in 1929. The Patman Meat Company had the honor of supplying the United States Navy during World War II. After attending Stanford University and completing a tour of duty with the U.S. Army, Urban’s son, Don, joined the family business in 1957. Don took the helm of the company and converted it into a state-of-the-art, value-added meat processing facility. His son, Patrick, came on board in 1976 and worked in each division for six months to learn the meat processing business from the inside out.
The Patman legacy goes beyond the family business. Both Urban and Don served as President of the National Association of Meat Purveyors, and Urban coauthored the N.A.M.P. Meat Buyer’s Guide. In the 1950's, Don wrote the Cost Accounting manual for N.A.M.P. that set the industry standard.
In 1984, Patrick founded Patman Meat Group. Evolving with the industry and technology, PMG became the source that restaurant and food chain executives consult for quick, effective and efficient results.
